Seth Pendergast is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Music Education at the University of Utah where he teaches and assists with a broad range of classes such as: Arts Integration for the Elementary Classroom, Student Teaching Seminar, General Music Methods, Choral Methods, Introduction to Music Education, Theoretical Foundations of Music Education, and Women’s Ensemble. Throughout his doctoral program, he has worked to develop scholarship that addresses issues concerning adolescent motivation and interest in school music programs. Recently, he contributed two book chapters to the textbook General Music: A K–12 Experience (Kendall Hunt Publishers) on alternative technology based music courses for secondary schools and has also conducted research regarding public school students’, university students’, and current music teachers interest in alternative music programs.
Seth has presented clinics, workshops, and research at various universities, school districts, and conferences, both locally and nationally. He taught choir and general music for seven years at McLaughlin Middle School in Lake Wales, FL where he built a composition-based general music curriculum and a fully equipped Mac Lab. During his tenure at McLaughlin, the choral program consistently received high ratings at district festivals, and students within the program participated in auditioned ensembles both at the local and state level. Seth holds a Masters in Music Education from Florida State University. He is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Association for Popular Music Education, National Association for Music Education, Society for Music Teacher Education, Society for Research in Music Education, and Technology Institute for Music Educators.
Not only are you musically great but an awesome mentor to near and far. We will forever be grateful to your kindness to our son , with out he would have been lost in middle school as well as a new state. Thank you and my God continue to bless you and Monica

Very impressive! I love the part about the Mac lab! Your students were so lucky with all the wonderful technological education you gave them! So excited that you are working with Jessica and Nicole! Hope to see you and Monica is n one is f my many trips to Salt Lake City!
